From 2026/7/22 to 24, the 4th Korea Display Industry Exhibition (K-DISPLAY 2026) was held at COEX in Seoul, South Korea. Jiangsu Zhengbonuo Technology Co., Ltd. ("Zhengbonuo") showcased its high-purity, high-abundance boron trifluoride-11 (¹¹BF₃) electronic specialty gas products at this global display industry event, engaging with 142 exhibitors from around the world. This marks Zhengbonuo's first appearance as an independent exhibitor on the international display stage, following its prior domestic semiconductor industry expansion.

A Future-Focused Industry Summit

K-DISPLAY, organized by the Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA), is South Korea's sole international certification exhibition dedicated to the display industry. Over 25 years of development, it has evolved beyond a simple showcase: Samsung Display and LG Display—the two global panel giants—announce their latest technology roadmaps here annually. Key industry players such as BOE and Visionox also attend. The concurrent Display Business Forum serves as a leading indicator of emerging technology trends in the sector.

This year's exhibition is particularly noteworthy. The integration of OLED technology and AI is accelerating, with Samsung Display and LG Display showcasing OLED panels specifically designed for humanoid robot faces. Tandem OLED is expanding from automotive applications to mobile devices, while the industrialization of Micro LED is also gaining momentum. Over 20,000 professional attendees visited during the three-day event—these figures reflect the global display industry's strong demand for new materials and technologies.

For Zhengbo Nuo, K-DISPLAY is more than an exhibition; it's a gateway to the core of the global display industry.

The Technology Behind a "Gas Chip"

In semiconductor and display panel manufacturing, ion implantation is a critical process that determines device performance. Trifluoroboron-11 (¹¹BF₃) serves as an indispensable p-type doping gas source in this process.

Natural boron contains approximately 20% of boron-10 and 80% of boron-11. However, trace amounts of boron-10 in advanced manufacturing processes can cause soft errors in devices, impacting chip reliability and yield. Therefore, high-end semiconductor and display panel production requires ultra-pure ¹¹BF₃ gas with a boron-11 enrichment of over 99.7% and a chemical purity of 99.999% (5N grade). For a long time, this strategic electronic specialty gas, valued by the gram, has been almost entirely dependent on imports.

Zhengbounuo's core technology breakthrough stems from deep collaboration with world-leading isotope separation teams. The company has adopted the proven anisole chemical exchange distillation process from Georgia's Institute of Stable Isotopes, supported by four Georgian experts who provided end-to-end technical assurance throughout the entire lifecycle—from design and equipment selection to installation, commissioning, and production operations.

The elegance of this process lies in coupling complexation-chemical exchange reactions to separate boron isotopes, followed by multi-stage precision distillation for high-efficiency separation of boron-10 and boron-11, ultimately achieving industrial production with low-loss pyrolysis. From natural boron, we retain the "essential" ¹¹B while removing all of the "target" ¹⁰B—each step pushes against the physical limits of separation precision.

Notably, in OLED display panel manufacturing, ¹¹BF₃'s value extends beyond traditional ion implantation. In thin-film processes such as atomic layer deposition (ALD) and sputtering, high-purity boron sources directly impact the deposition quality of gate insulating and passivation layers, determining display uniformity and product yield. As Samsung Display and LG Display continue to increase their OLED capacity investments, stable supply of high-quality ¹¹BF₃ becomes critically important.

Zhengbo now has the capacity to produce 4 tons annually of electronic-grade, high-purity, and high-abundance ¹¹BF₃. The product achieves an abundance of ≥99.99% and a purity of ≥99.999%, meeting key benchmarks set by leading global manufacturers. This provides Chinese display panel manufacturers with a premium boron source that is closer to home.

From being held back to going global

2026 stands out as the year when the global display supply chain underwent a profound restructuring. On one hand, OLED adoption is accelerating in new use cases such as IT devices, automotive systems, and robotics, driving sustained growth in upstream material demand. On the other, geopolitical factors have elevated supply chain security to an unprecedented priority—having your own suppliers is no longer a competitive advantage but a necessity.

Zhengbounuo arrived at the K-DISPLAY booth under these circumstances.

For our company, choosing South Korea for our first international exhibition was a deliberate strategic decision. As a global hub for the display industry, South Korea is home to Samsung Display and LG Display, which together account for over 70% of the global OLED panel market. Their upstream material supply chain is highly concentrated yet deeply integrated globally—creating an ideal entry point for Chinese specialty gas companies.

During the exhibition, Zhengbuno's booth attracted potential clients and partners from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan (China), and other regions. Industry experts engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics including application parameters of ¹¹BF₃ in OLED manufacturing processes, supply chain validation timelines, and mass production capabilities. Face-to-face interactions with international buyers validated global recognition of our product quality and gathered valuable first-hand insights for future market entry.

From an industry logic perspective, Zhengbo Nuo's global expansion goes beyond simply "going overseas"—it delivers dual value: externally, it provides a competitive, geopolitically stable boron source for the global display supply chain; internally, deep collaboration with international clients drives technological iteration that benefits domestic semiconductor customers.

Zhengbounuo at a New Starting Point

Zhengbono, located in the Taixing Economic Development Zone of Jiangsu Province, has invested a total of 7 billion yuan to construct a production line for high-purity, high-abundance ¹¹BF₃ with an annual capacity of 4 tons, alongside a series of new material projects. This level of investment is rare in China's stable isotope separation sector—it is not a minor pilot effort but a strategic, long-term commitment to shaping the industry's future.

When Samsung Display showcased a humanoid robot with an OLED screen at K-DISPLAY, when LG Display announced the launch of Tandem OLED for smartphones, and as the entire display industry evolves toward higher resolution, greater reliability, and more form factors—behind these grand narratives lies the precise support of countless gases, materials, and processes at the micro level.

Zhengbonuo aims to become an indispensable part of the countless forms of support.
